Pat McColl’s article “Fall-Winter Collections Sweeping Paris Off Its Feet” (July 29) was quite amusing. The reason the audience was swept off its feet was because they were all fainting at the sight of the bizarre fashions.

If CoCo Chanel saw that frou-frou whatsit designed by Karl Lagerfeld, she would turn over in her grave.

Evidently, Karl couldn’t make up his mind whether he was designing a dress for:

--Judy Garland in “The Harvey Girls”

--Madame Pompadour

--A cancan dancer or

--Debbie Reynolds in “The Unsinkable Molly Brown.”
