John Paul, a former race car driver, was sentenced in Jacksonville, Fla., to 25 years in a federal prison for drug smuggling.
Paul, 48, of Lawrenceville, Ga., pleaded guilty in a plea bargain last May to operating a continuing criminal enterprise, tax evasion and conspiring to obtain a false passport after shooting a witness.
The criminal enterprise charge said that Paul and his son, driver John Paul Jr., conspired to smuggle 200,000 pounds of marijuana from Colombia to the United States between 1975 and 1983. Paul Jr. was sentenced earlier.
