Judge Bork on Civil Rights

The audaciousness of Supreme Court candidate Bork leaves me doubting his qualifications for the bench. Original intent indeed! In the first place, who can fully capture the minds of the founders 200 years after the fact? Secondly, these forward-thinking men understood the meaning of a developing democracy. Third, new times give rise to fresh ideas.

This judicial usurper would certainly put us back many years. And yes, these same principles would resurface in the future. But is it fair to those of us whose lives are dedicated to humaneness and freedom of choice? Are we not entitled to the right of privacy?

Those who struggled and even died on the front lines of human liberation from ideological tyranny deserve better.
