Clipper Michael Cage was cited for possession of concealed weapons after a routine traffic stop by sheriff’s deputies in West Los Angeles, authorities said.

According to sheriff’s spokesman Mike Nelson, Cage was stopped about noon on Fairfax Avenue because his registration had expired. When Cage opened the glove department, deputies found a loaded automatic pistol, along with two magazines, Nelson said.

Cage, 25, told the deputies he also had an unloaded .45 in his trunk, and the officers also confiscated that gun, Nelson said. Nelson said that Cage told officers he needed the guns for personal safety.

He was taken to the Marina del Rey sheriff station, cited for carrying concealed weapons, and released. Cage was not cited for lapsed registration after producing current registration.
