Everest & Jennings International’s earnings dropped to $555,000 in the second quarter from $1.77 million a year ago. The year-ago quarter included a gain of $1.15 million from the sale of real estate. The Los Angeles company said revenue was up 8%. The company designs, manufactures and distributes wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment. Its medical equipment marketing operation ended the quarter with record order intake rates, the firm said, and the consolidation and restructuring of its casting companies are beginning to show favorable results.
