CMS Enhancements Reports Record Profit of $1.7 Million

CMS Enhancements Inc. of Tustin reported that profit for the year ended June 30 increased nearly 70% to a record $1.7 million as sales more than doubled.

Continuing its rapid growth rate, the maker of computer accessories posted fiscal 1987 sales of $100.2 million, contrasted with $41.4 million a year earlier. Fiscal 1986 profit was $1 million.

CMS attributed the sales leap to an aggressive program to push its basic product lines at competitive prices. The company acknowledged that the strategy has eroded its profit margins.

For the final quarter of the year, profits were $251,000, virtually unchanged from the $248,000 posted a year earlier. Sales were $31.7 million, up 173% from the $11.6 million recorded in the prior year.
