The next shuttle flight will be significantly delayed if major problems develop during upcoming tests because NASA does not have the manpower or resources to deal with them quickly, veteran astronaut John Young said. And a top engineer at the Johnson Space Center in Houston said problems are likely as NASA enters the home stretch in gearing up for next June’s launching of the shuttle Discovery on the first American manned spaceflight since last year’s Challenger disaster.
