Libyan aircraft again bombed towns in northern Chad, the Chadian government reported. It said the targets included Faya-Largeau, administrative capital of the north, and Kouba-Olanga, about 25 miles south of the 16th Parallel, which had been the southern edge of the Libyan incursion. Chadian troops drove out the Libyans and their allies and last week captured Aozou, in the disputed Aozou Strip, prompting the Libyan raids. In Paris, French Defense Minister Andre Giraud said France may provide air protection for towns in northern Chad. France had criticized Chad for pushing into the Libyan-claimed strip.
