American Airlines and Pan American World Airways announced that they will terminate their joint frequent flyer programs. Members of American’s program, AAdvantage, will continue to receive mileage credits for Pan Am flights taken through Sept. 30, said Michael W. Gunn, American’s senior vice president of marketing. American will honor all mileage credits for Pan Am flights as well as transferred WorldPass miles already posted to AAdvantage accounts. Any award certificates for travel on Pan Am are valid for one year from the date of issue, Gunn said. Pan Am’s WorldPass members who have accumulated miles in the AAdvantage program may transfer that mileage to their WorldPass account until Oct. 31.
