The AFL-CIO is calling a halt to a decade-long consumer boycott of Coors beer, officials said. AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland and Peter Coors, president of brewery operations for Adolph Coors Co., planned to hold simultaneous news conferences today in Washington and Colorado announcing the accord, the officials said. Labor sources who asked not to be identified said the accord resolves to the AFL-CIO’s satisfaction its desire for a “timely” union representation election at Coors’ brewery in Golden, Colo., and the use of union construction workers to build a new brewery at Elkton, Va.
