Schlumberger Ltd. is considering several buyout offers for its Fairchild Semiconductor subsidiary, including one financed by an arm of Citicorp and one for a part of the company from National Semiconductor, according to a published report. Citicorp Venture Capital has been working with Fairchild President Donald Brooks to finance a leveraged buyout of Cupertino, Calif.-based Fairchild, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The newspaper, citing unidentified sources, said that under the offer, most of the money would come from Citicorp, the current management team would remain in place and most of the company would remain intact.
