The International Commission of Jurists deplored alleged political repression in Paraguay and the killing of more than 200 prisoners by Peruvian armed forces in June of last year. In a report entitled “Human Rights in the World,” the private, Geneva-based group also criticized Bulgaria’s campaign to prevent its Turkish minority from using its own language and the sentencing by a Prague court in March of five members of the Jazz Section, a banned Czechoslovak dissident group. The commission also criticized the government of Singapore for last May’s detention of 16 church community leaders.
