Ross Reimueller; Music Conductor

Ross Reimueller, a veteran conductor who most recently was an administrator for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, is dead, it was learned this week. He was 49 when he died in Los Angeles Aug. 12. His mother said he had cancer.

Born in Ohio, Reimueller studied at Oberlin College and the New England Conservatory. He made his conducting debut in 1963 in Denver and in 1965 became conductor for the new Metropolitan Opera National Co. He later conducted for the New York City Opera before moving to Los Angeles in 1979.

His most recent appearances were with the West Coast company of “Evita,” a musical he conducted more than 650 times.

Survivors include his mother, Esther.
