Nobel laureate Gerard Debreu will address the International Summer Institute at Chapman College at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Hashinger Hall, the college announced.

Debreu, a professor of economics at UC Berkeley, won the Nobel Prize for economic sciences in 1983. He will talk about “decision making under uncertainty.”

Chapman’s International Summer Institute brings “gifted high school students from around the nation in an intensive, month-long program focusing on math and science,” said Jerry Derloshon, college spokesman. The institute, which began the first week of August, continues through Friday. It has drawn 81 high school students, Derloshon said.
