Reagan to Push Adoptions
President Reagan, after moving to stop the use of federal money for abortion counseling services, named a federal task force today to sell adoption as an “alternative for pregnant women.”
White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said the 13-member task force will, among other things, study whether federal legislation is needed to ease the adoption process and seek to determine what kind of state or local actions might help facilitate adoptions. The group will be headed by Mary Gall, counselor to Constance Horner, director of the Office of Personnel Management.
