Soviet emigre director Andrei Konchalovsky (“Maria’s Lovers,” “Runaway Train”) will be working for Hemdale Films--the makers of “Platoon” and “Hoosiers”--for his next feature, and Hemdale president John Daly says he intends to keep him at the company for a while. The upcoming Konchalovsky/Hemdale project, titled “The Manumit Resolution,” is an international thriller based on a novel by Eric Swirkal. No word on casting of the film yet. “I hope that this relationship (between Konchalovsky and Hemdale) will bear similar results to our relationship with (“Platoon” director) Oliver Stone,” Daly said.
