Gunbattles between rival ethnic groups killed 11 people and wounded more than 80 Wednesday in Pakistan’s largest city of Karachi, hospital doctors said.

Authorities imposed a curfew and called in troops to separate Pushtuns and Mohajirs in the Faisal Colony area near Karachi airport.

About 300 people have been killed in the past 10 months in clashes between Pushtuns from the country’s North-West Frontier province and neighboring Afghanistan, and Mohajirs who migrated from other parts of former British India at its 1947 partition.
