Action for Children’s Television said it will ask the Federal Communications Commission to reimpose limits on the number and frequency of ads on children’s programming. Representatives for the Cambridge, Mass., group said its request follows a decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington earlier this summer, which held that the FCC consistently failed to consider the special nature of children’s programming. Bill Johnson, acting chief of the FCC’s Mass Media Bureau, expressed doubt Wednesday that the commission would return to the old standard for children’s TV without new evidence.
