One, two, three, four, who’re we trying to recall? Country Joe McDonald has reworked his ‘60s antiwar song “I-Feel-Like-I’m Fixin’-to-Die Rag” into a dig at Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham, who is embroiled in controversy and a recall movement in his state. McDonald said his single, called “Evan Cheer,” will be released next month along with a video in support of a paid state holiday honoring the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Mecham, a Republican, rescinded Arizona’s holiday for King when he took office last January, and several prominent black performers have refused to perform in the state as a result. A portion of the proceeds from the record will be used to establish scholarships for black students in Arizona State University’s music department.
