Volkswagen AG’s net income rose to $134 million from $131 million during the first half of 1987. The West German car maker said it expects earnings to be flat for the year. While U.S. sales slumped 18.4% to 121,570 units, domestic sales surged 16.5% to 498,000 units, the company said. In addition, higher-value vehicles and accessories helped improve profit.
