New Registrar Named: Donald F. Tanney, the county’s assistant registrar of voters, has been named registrar, succeeding Alvin E. Olson, it was announced Wednesday.
Tanney, 46, holds a law degree from Western State University and is a member of the State Bar. A county employee for 23 years, Tanney has worked in the registration and elections division for the past five years.
R.A. Scott, director of the county General Services Agency, said that Tanney was selected from among 31 candidates from across the country for the $55,000-a-year job. The registrar’s office is part of the GSA.
Olson, 70, retired last week after 11 years as registrar.
