A former nuclear technician accused of treason for allegedly spilling Israeli nuclear secrets testified about how he was transported from England to Israel, his lawyer said. The Jerusalem proceeding was closed, and no details were made public. Defense attorney Avigdor Feldman has demanded that Mordechai Vanunu, 33, be released immediately on grounds that he was brought to Israel illegally and the court therefore has no jurisdiction. Vanunu’s family contends that Israeli agents lured him from London to Rome last October, then drugged and kidnaped him. Based on information from Vanunu, the Sunday Times of London reported last Oct. 5 that Israel had stockpiled 100 nuclear weapons.
