ROME — Jackie Joyner-Kersee of the United States won the women’s long jump at 24-1 3/4 for her second gold medal of the meet and Ingrid Kristiansen of Norway ran away with the women’s 10,000 meters at the World Track and Field Championships today.
“My body is hurting,” said Joyner-Kersee, who won the heptathlon gold medal Tuesday. “It was tough jumping” in the swirling winds. Elena Belevskaya of the Soviet Union came in second at 23-5 and Heike Drechsler of East Germany third at 23-4 3/4.
