Raider-Coliseum-Irwindale Controversy

Share

It was a great pleasure reading Bill Stall’s piece, “A Coliseum Commission Fumbles Atop Historic Hole in the Ground,” (Opinion, Aug. 30).

With tongue firmly in cheek, he captured the true significance of the Raiders potential move (not much) and the value of the Coliseum as an areawide treasure (substantial).

Now about that reservoir. I’m the aide to the Southland water agency official Stall referred to. The Coliseum would hold about 800 acre-feet of water--enough to serve all the people in Southern California for about two hours. Fill it up before a Super Bowl game and it’s gone by half time. If we could build 4,379 more Coliseums . . . nah, this isn’t going to work.
