The government of Congo said it had detained eight people in connection with a plot to overthrow the central African nation’s socialist regime. A communique from the Brazzaville government headed by President Denis Sassau-Nguesso identified one of the conspirators as former Capt. Pierre Anga, a member of a military committee that ruled the one-time French colony from 1977 to 1979.
