Tropical Depression Forms West of Cape Verde Isles

MIAMI —
A tropical depression formed Saturday in the eastern Atlantic about 400 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands and was moving northwest with maximum winds estimated near 35 m.p.h., the National Hurricane Center reported. A spokesman said conditions remained favorable for the tropical depression to strengthen.
