Huntington Park : Interim Police Chief Quits
Interim Police Chief Al Trembly has resigned after just two months on the job.
The Huntington Park City Council accepted Trembly’s resignation Tuesday night. Although no official reason was given, Assistant City Administrator Craig Robinson said Trembly left the Police Department for personal reasons. The one-time Santa Barbara police chief, who was hired July 6 to fill in for former Police Chief Geano Contessotto, could not be reached for comment.
“We’re sorry to see him go,” Robinson said of Trembly. “He was doing a good job.”
The city is conducting a search for a permanent police chief, who is expected to be hired in November, Robinson said. Capt. Charles Plum will be acting police chief until then.
The City Council suspended Contessotto in June pending his dismissal July 24 without giving an official reason. The next day Mayor Thomas E. Jackson said he and his colleagues had no choice but to replace Contessotto to “return the city to its prior stability.” Contessotto has filed a lawsuit seeking $2.5 million alleging that the City Council unfairly fired him and destroyed his career.
