Syntro Corp. has received U.S. Dept. of Agriculture clearance to begin field tests of its first product, a pseudorabies vaccine for swine. Up to now, Syntro’s revenues have come from government grants and contract research.

If the testing goes successfully, Syntro may begin selling the vaccine to veterinarians in January, president Thomas Parmeter said Thursday. The company expects to sell about $2 million worth of the vaccine during its first full year on the market, during which Parmeter expects the company’s contract research revenues to total about $2.5 million, about half the research revenues reported by the company in fiscal 1986.
