Forrest E. Hoglund, who had been considered a front-runner to succeed USX Corp. Chairman David Roderick when he retires, resigned unexpectedly to take over oil and gas operations for Enron Corp., Houston. Hoglund, 54, had been president of USX’s Texas Oil & Gas Corp. Hoglund’s departure heightened speculation that Charles Corry, 55, president of USX’s diversified group, will succeed Roderick when he retires in May, 1989.
