Texan Arrested Over Threats Against Pope

A man sought on federal warrants accusing him of threatening to kill Pope John Paul II was arrested in a bar 30 miles from San Antonio, where the Pope arrives today, authorities said Saturday.

Michael Oscar Bradbury, who also uses the middle names “Hebrew Mt. Zion,” was arrested late Friday on an FBI warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution on a charge of threats against a foreign official, police said.

Bradbury, 39, of Houston, was held in the Kendall County Jail for U.S. marshals, Sheriff’s Lt. Ron Woods said.

“He had been around in this area at least a day before,” Woods said. “We got to doing a little checking around and located him in a bar in Boerne. He was playing pool.”
