David Cornwell has been named to the newly-created position of NFL Director of Equal Employment and Assistant Legal Counsel, Commissioner Pete Rozelle announced.

Cornwell’s role will involve developing and maintaining wide-ranging contacts in the business, professional and college communities. He also will work with interested parties within the league as well as the NAACP, Operation PUSH and other leading civil rights groups.

“I believe that the creation of this new position within the league office is another indication of the NFL’s long-range commitment to broadening opportunities for minorities,” Rozelle said.
