An outraged diet expert became the latest critic of Britain’s recently privatized telecommunications company, British Telecom, after her confidential slimming tips were broadcast on public radio. Mary Creese was giving a client slimming tips on the telephone when her neighbor heard the conversation broadcast on the radio chat show she was listening to. “We all think it’s quite amusing but it could have been an important secret call,” the neighbor, Joyce Thornhill, said. British Telecom announced increased profits last week, but its chairman, Sir George Jefferson, resigned following constant consumer complaints that the company overcharges and offers poor service.
