The Texas Supreme Court has ruled that the Houston Sports Assn. does not have to pay damages to the family of a girl who was hit in the face by a foul ball at the Astrodome in 1978.

Without writing an opinion, the high court ruled there was no reversible error in a Houston appeals court decision in the case filed on behalf of Karen Bernstein of Houston.

She was 11, sitting in a section behind first base, when a foul ball hit by Enos Cabell of the Astros struck her. Jurors ordered $125,000 in damages for the girl and her father, Robert Friedman. But the trial judge threw out the damage award. The 1st Court of Appeals in Houston upheld that decision.
