Services were held at Forest Lawn on Wednesday for director Mervyn LeRoy, who died Sunday. The more than 100 mourners heard LeRoy eulogized by actress Loretta Young and Paramount Pictures producer Howard Koch. LeRoy, who made his name in 1930 directing Edward G. Robinson in the classic gangster film, “Little Caesar,” and who also produced the “Wizard of Oz” in 1939, was 86 when he died in his sleep at his Beverly Hills home.
