“Bonanza: The Next Generation,” a syndicated TV-movie sequel to the classic TV show, will begin shooting Oct. 24 on schedule, despite the death last Friday of its 72-year-old star, Lorne Greene, who was set to reprise his role as Ben Cartwright, patriarch of the clan. A spokesman at Gaylord Productions declined to explain just how the producers plan to fill the obvious hole in the plot, said to have featured Greene and his Cartwright grandchildren but none of the original sons (Adam, Parnell Roberts; Hoss, the late Dan Blocker; Little Joe, Michael Landon). Gaylord officials said they plan to hold a tell-all press conference next week.
