Schwartz Captures Scratch Main Event in Speedway Program

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event of the speedway motorcycle program in front of 2,219 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa Friday night.

Schwartz was followed by Mike Faria of Colton, Brad Oxley of San Clemente and Steve Lucero of Riverside.

Billy Hamill of Monrovia won the eight-lap handicap main event. Jim Sisemore of Woodland was second and Walt Farnum of Ventura was third.

Steve Russell of Anaheim won the the five-lap support class main event. Karl Sellenthin of Huntington Beach won the third division four-lap main event.

In the featured match race--a best of two-of-three, two-lap races--Bob Ott of Newport Beach defeated Doug Ferrell of Whittier, 2-1.
