Martina Navratilova will return in November to defend her title in the Virginia Slims of Chicago tennis tournament.
Navratilova, who won the women’s U.S. Open title earlier this month, will play in the Nov. 9-15 tournament at the University of Illinois Circle Pavilion, a week before she is scheduled to complete in a Virginia Slims tournament in New York.
With 3,326 points and $814,312 in prize winnings in 1987, Navratilova is ranked as the world’s No. 2 women’s tennis player by the Women’s International Tennis Assn.
West Germany’s Steffi Graf is rated No. 1, with 4,155 points and 1987 earnings of $871,385.
