Rereading the Constitution

Share

Last night I had the strangest dream. I dreamed the Pilgrims came to American to fight gun control. I dreamed the Pilgrims came to America to fight the world’s number one enemy, communism. I dreamed the Pilgrims came to American to build a Christian nation. I dreamed the Pilgrims came to America to fight abortion and support prayers in the public schools. I dreamed the Pilgrims came to America to destroy the environment in the name of profit.

When I awoke, I found my dreams were true.

I’m grateful to The Times for the “We the People” supplement. I’m rereading the Constitution for the third time to assure myself my dream was only a nightmare.
