Race car driver Roberto Guerrero was breathing...
Race car driver Roberto Guerrero was breathing without mechanical help for the first time since a Sept. 10 crash at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“He remains unconscious but has been taken off the ventilator and now is breathing on his own,” Indianapolis Methodist Hospital spokesman Jon White said. “He continues to open his eyes more spontaneously and follow simple commands.”
The 28-year-old Colombian driver, who is listed in serious but stable condition, received a severe head injury when he was hit by a tire after his car crashed during a testing session.
