Alpha Microsystems Stays on Profit Track

Alpha Microsystems continued its return to profitability, posting net income of $189,000 for its fiscal second quarter, contrasted with a loss of $257,000 for the same period last year.

Revenue for the period ended Aug. 23 was $11.1 million, down 4% from $11.6 million a year earlier.

For the first half of its fiscal 1988, Alpha Microsystems reported net income of $287,000, contrasted with a loss of $555,000 a year earlier. Sales of $22 million were down 4% from the $22.9 million reported the previous first half.

The Santa Ana computer maker posted eight consecutive quarterly losses before reporting its fiscal 1988 first-quarter profit earlier this year.

Company officials credit a reorganization plan implemented last year for the profitable quarters.
