Have Deukmejian and others forgotten how important education was for their own success?

Time has proven the cost of educational grants were repaid well beyond expectations by moving those who participated in the program to higher economic levels that produced greater tax revenues.

What does it take to make our elected officials realize that every dollar taken away from the education of our children--at every level--robs future generations of that extra step necessary to keep pace with a rapidly changing society and highly competitive world economies?
