Schools and Tax Rebate

The decision by our governor and the Legislature to return the state’s surplus revenues to the taxpayers is as shortsighted as it is politically self-serving. In their petty narrow-mindedness, our lawmakers missed a rare chance to establish a perpetual educational trust fund.

Quality in education over the past decade or two has been less than is deemed necessary and essential in a world where even developing countries’ educational systems have become superior.

Our future lies in education. That’s where we must invest.
