Jordan has decided to restore diplomatic relations with Libya, broken since crowds burned down the Jordanian Embassy in Tripoli in February, 1984, the official Jordanian news agency reported. Jordan has been a staunch ally of Iraq throughout the seven-year-old Iran-Iraq War. Libya initially aligned itself with non-Arab Iran but has recently restored ties with Iraq and called for a cease-fire in the war. In past years, Libya has opposed Jordan’s attempts to find a peaceful solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict and its restoration of ties with Egypt.
