ABC News’ “Capital to Capital” two-hour special late Tuesday night, which linked members of Congress with senior Soviet executives for a live discussion of mutual security, averaged a 5.1 Nielsen rating and a 21% audience share in 15 major TV markets. In the 15 big city markets, the public affairs program outdrew CBS’ late-night fare (4.5 / 19%) and even edged Johnny Carson and David Letterman on NBC (5.1 / 20%). More “Capital to Capital” telecasts, on the subjects of human rights and regional conflicts, are scheduled to air Oct. 14 and Nov. 17.
