Evangelist John Wesley Fletcher said he did not force Jessica Hahn to have sex with him and does not know if PTL founder Jim Bakker forced himself on her during a 1980 meeting in a Florida motel room. Much of what has appeared in various media is “only half-truths,” Fletcher said after testifying for three hours before a federal grand jury investigating the television ministry. He refused to answer whether he had sex with Hahn, who in an interview with Playboy magazine said Fletcher set up her meeting with Bakker and forced her to have sex with him after that encounter. Bakker, who has resigned from PTL, has said Hahn seduced him.
