A man and a woman rammed a dump truck against the Berlin Wall in a failed attempt to crash through and escape from Communist East Berlin, police in West Berlin said. East German border guards arrested the couple before they could make a second attempt to break through the concrete wall, police said. The incident occurred Friday night. The wall is about six inches thick and 12 feet high in the area where the incident took place, opposite West Berlin’s Zehlendorf district. Witnesses told West Berlin police that the two people were not injured and that East German border guards fired no shots.
