Compensation to Internees

Share

I agree that the interned Japanese during World War II should receive an apology but the redress sum of $20,000 should be limited to those under a given income. There are many of those of Japanese ancestry who were interned who are doing very well financially, and $20,000 would mean very little to them.

It may be that I feel like this because, although I was born in Japan and am of Japanese ancestry, I had sense enough to be east of the Mississippi and stay there after Pearl Harbor, so not having been interned, I am not in line for $20,000.
