British publisher Robert Maxwell wants to change the name of his British Printing & Communications Corp. to Maxwell Communication Corp. In a letter to shareholders, Maxwell said he thinks that the current name makes the company sound nationalized and overemphasizes the printing aspects of the firm. The company owns major printing concerns in Great Britain and the United States, the Mirror group of newspapers in Britain and Pergamon journals, a group of technical publications. Earlier this year, the firm failed in an attempt to take over U.S. publishing giant Harcourt Brace Jovanovich for $1.73 billion.
