A federal bankruptcy judge ordered LTV Corp. to take temporary administrative responsibility for three steelworker pension plans restored to the Dallas-based company last week. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland also appointed Mellon Bank trustee of the pension plans’ assets. Lifland’s order provides for temporary administration of the pension plans while litigation continues. It was agreed to by the federal pension agency and LTV to assure uninterrupted payment of retirement benefits, officials said.
