Bush Meets With W. German and French Leaders
PARIS — Vice President George Bush continued his European swing Wednesday, meeting in Bonn and Paris with West German and French leaders.
They discussed the prospective U.S.-Soviet treaty to ban intermediate-range nuclear weapons.
After meeting with French Premier Jacques Chirac, the vice president said he had found “very few differences, none of any magnitude when it comes to arms control.”
After a session with West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Bush said, “I am encouraged at this tremendous and I’d say unified support from Germany for the INF (intermediate-range nuclear forces) discussions that are going on.”
